The Vintage Echo is the perfect analog delay imposter. Play through one and you won’t be able to hear the difference! This, my friends, is dead-on 70’s analog tape echo that is flat out inspiring. Digital delays typically sound processed and un-musical. The repeats are often overbearing and harsh. With the Vintage Echo, that’s not the case. Your repeats tail off with that classic “atmospheric”, slightly grainy tape degradation that is so unique to the old analogs. It can also fake a pretty decent reverb! So why not just offer an analog delay? Simple. You get all the benefits of a vintage tape delay without the clock noise and oscillation. Plus, I can offer it at a fraction of the cost due to the less expensive (and more reliable) components.

But what about tap tempo? Well, here’s where the waters part. Long story short…if precise, calculated repeats are what you need, the Vintage Echo won’t satisfy. However, if you use your delay for more of a sweetener; a soothing ambience so to speak; this is your box. If you can afford an old Echoplex, by all means – go for it! But if you’re counting pennies like the rest of us, get your hands on an OceanEFX Vintage Echo. Once you do, you might not turn it off!
